Goal: To enhance the user experience for military personnel and enthusiasts by improving the online purchasing process for Crye Precision’s high-performance clothing and military gear.

Problem Statement

Crye Precision offers advanced military gear that meets the demanding needs of military personnel. However, their current e-commerce platform struggles with issues such as a complex navigation system, inadequate product information, and poor visual design. This hampers user satisfaction and conversion rates. The goal is to redesign the user experience to facilitate better product discovery, increase engagement, and streamline the purchasing process.

    • Needs: Detailed product descriptions, educational resources, and high-quality imagery.

Design Process

1. Wireframing

  • Homepage: Featured sections for new arrivals, best sellers, and categories (e.g., clothing, vests).
  • Product Pages: Detailed product information, high-quality images, size guides, and user reviews.
  • Checkout Process: Streamlined, multi-step checkout process with clear progress indicators and options for fast reordering.

2. Prototyping

  • Low-Fidelity Prototype: Basic wireframes created to test layout and navigation with users.
  • High-Fidelity Prototype: Interactive prototypes developed using Figma and Protopie to simulate user interactions, gather feedback, and refine certain design elements.

3. Usability Testing

  • Testing Sessions: Conducted with 8 users from both personas.
  • Findings:
    • Active Duty Soldiers: Valued quick access to product specs and a fast, efficient checkout process. Suggested enhancements in product search and filtering.
    • Shooters: Appreciated detailed descriptions and high-quality images but requested more interactive content like videos and 360-degree views.
